  3.                          AND THE WINNER IS...

  5.      November in 1996 means a presidential election.  The United
  6. States is selecting its leader for the next four years; this is a
  7. big deal for a lot of folks.  Politics as recreation ranks right
  8. up there with sex and baseball. 
  9.      Incumbent Democrat Bill Clinton and former Senator Bob Dole
  10. are facing off; as I write this, the President has a 15-20
  11. percentage point lead over his Republican rival. 
  12.      Ruby has noticed.  She claims to have helped get Sweet William
  13. into office, and she wants the 15% Bob Dole is offering.  Caught
  14. on the horns of a dilemma, being Ruby, she follows the money. 
  15.      If six (that's right, *six*) episodes of Ruby and Bob weren't
  16. enough, we've also got of couple of fiction pieces related to the
  17. election.  A contribution from regular Paul Toth and the conclusion
  18. of Colin Dale's tail, uh, tale help round out the issue. 
  19.      Pull up a chair, grab the popcorn, and watch the election
  20. returns. We won't mind at all if you read Ruby's Pearls during the
  21. commercials.
